We are committed to creating an environment where everyone can bring their whole selves to work and thrive. Why? Because our people are central to the ongoing success of the business and the culture which has made us an employer of choice. By embracing, celebrating and understanding differences, we can achieve more together and better serve our clients.
We are determined to play our part in accelerating change in the financial services sector, to make it more inclusive and representative of the communities we operate in. We recognise there’s still more work to do, but we are proud of the progress being made. We are long-term signatories of the Diversity Project and also achieved the silver standard in LGBT Great’s Inclusion Index. Both initiatives are backed by the UK’s leading financial services companies and aim to build a more inclusive investment industry.
Schroders’ employee-led LGBTQ+ inclusion network, SchOUT, provides a safe and supportive network for LGBTQ+ employees and their allies to come together. Pride Month celebrations may have kicked off this June, but SchOUT celebrates LGBTQ+ with pride throughout the year.
We are actively committed to understanding and addressing regional advancements and challenges faced by LGBTQ+ communities. This enables us to create tailored initiatives and support systems that meet the specific needs of our employees and their communities.
Our people share why Pride Month and an inclusive workplace matters to them
Clare Anderson, Head of Schroders Family Office Service, UK:
“Fostering work place inclusion doesn’t just happen and we should be proud of the culture that exists at Schroders where people are defined by behaviours and actions without a necessity to label. At a course I attended years ago at the London Business School, our cohort were encouraged to “be yourself, more, with skill” - a great mantra for all.”
Richard Dyson, Head of Content, Schroders, UK:
“Being open about your sexual orientation at work gives colleagues the chance to accept you. In my experience, they want to.”
Scott McKay, Head of Marketing and Communications, Schroders, Americas:
“I’ve learned a few things in my 25+ years in this industry. One of the most important is that there is real value and freedom in bringing ones’ whole self to work.”
Nicola Kay, BA Analyst, Schroders, UK adds:
"Pride to me is about leading by example and celebrating our community, so that other young people, regardless of their sexual orientation or identity, have a safe and supportive environment to achieve their full potential."
How our local offices are celebrating Pride Month
Our people are marching with pride at London Pride, Luxembourg Equality March, and Luxembourg Pride Run for those that want to pick up the pace.
We’re hosting drag bingo events in our London and New York offices, with drag queen Crayola and drag talent Pixie Aventura respectively.
In our Tokyo office, colleagues will join Nikuyo-san to hear her personal story, discuss the struggles of the transgender community and share how to support the LGBTQ+ community. And in Taiwan, SchOUT is hosting LGBT Family Rights Advocacy for a lunch and learn session on LGBTQ+ family rights and the progress made to support LGBTQ+ families in adopting and raising children.
